Living Classroom...more than a garden

At Austinmer we have designed our school garden as a living classroom. Natural timbers and sandstone create a yarning circle, utilised for lessons across the curriculum. The garden includes decks for students to break into small groups and collaborate. We do not fence the area off, our students are encourage to enjoy the living classroom during break time. Austinmer's living classroom is a dynamic sustainable learning environment. A collaboration between students, teachers, and the community. We are indebted to our parent community and Austinmer P&C for their vision and ongoing support. When you teach a child to garden, you show them how to grow their own future.
