Our extra-curricular highlights
School sport, athletics and inter-school competitions
Students have access to a wide variety of school-based sports programs that encourage physical fitness, teamwork, and personal achievement. These include activities like swimming, cross country, and athletics. Additionally, students can represent the school at PSSA sports days and take part in interschool competitions, helping to build school spirit and a strong sense of community.
Debating and public speaking
Our school offers public speaking and debating programs, where students can enhance their communication, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. Students have the opportunity to take part in the Premier's Debating Challenge and Public Speaking Competitions, further developing their argumentation, critical thinking, and communication skills while gaining valuable experience in high-level competitive events.
Creative and performing arts
Our school offers a diverse range of drama, music, and visual arts programs that inspire students to be creative and express themselves with confidence. These programs extend beyond the classroom, providing opportunities to participate in the Year 6 musical, Dance Festival, and Southern Stars. Students are encouraged to showcase their talents through concerts, dance showcases, and drama performances, celebrating their artistic growth and achievements.
School Band
Austinmer Public School proudly offers two bands — a Beginner Band and a Senior Band — nurturing musical talent and teamwork among our students. Our strong community partnership with the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music enriches our music program and inspires excellence in performance.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
